This says everything. This is the best video ever. Watch this.
An important page exposing the Radical “Feminist” bigots in Australia. TERFS stands for Transgender Exclusive Radical Feminists and SWERFS stands for Sex Worker Exclusive Radical Feminists. Take particular note of Paisley Semrau and Jasmine Curcio. These two spend all their time bullying transgender women and sex workers, then support a man who makes a habit of enabling rapists and who claims to have been “falsely” accused of raping a child.
Paisley has started bullying a friend of mine because she (mistakenly) believes she is behind the Exposing TERFs blog. The person she is bullying is someone I respect very much for standing up against unjust laws and for not hiding who she is despite all the stigma she faces from bigots like Paisley.
Paisley, if you have to shame your opponent for being a drug user or sex worker, attack their mental health, or victim blame them for being abused, then you have totally failed at being a feminist. You have also failed as a feminist when you support rapists or rape apologists. And you have failed as a feminist if you spend all your time attacking marginalised women. Paisley Semrau you are an abuser and I think you should be kept the fuck away from any feminist events in Melbourne.
Below is a link to my friend’s response to Paisley:
Just read this article about a horrible victim blaming email that was sent to a child sexual abuse survivor in the Jewish community by a prominent rebbetzin. I can’t imagine how terrible what Manny Waks went through must have been. But gosh the language and cliches in the email are familiar:
Hi Manny,Why do you keep highlighting Yeshiva?! Before the pedophile issues you went running to The Age re BER issues. There’s always something with you and Yeshiva. Get over it already- whatever it is that makes you think that attacking Yeshiva justifies your not being frum. There is something very ugly and personal about your antiYeshiva campaign. Just because a security guard molested you don’t blame Yeshiva!(Sentence relating to an allegation of abuse removed for legal reasons)Get over it! You need counselling! I haven’t met a person yet with one nice word to say about you. Most people consider you a lowlife- not because of any molestation, which wasn’t your fault, but because of your malicious blame game which is unjust, unwarranted, undeserved and wicked. The person you hurt most by that is yourself and your own psyche and spiritual and emotional wellbeing. I realise you may go on hate campaign against me now, but like yourself, I have no fear in saying it as it is when I feel passionate about something.Erev Yom Kippur. Get the pedophiles. That’s fine. But get the hate out of your heart or at least try to control it. That hate is very bad for you personally as it doesn’t allow you peace of mind or any form of internal harmony or happiness.Words from the heart.A Gmar Tov to you and yours,Rebzn Pnina Feldman
So I have recently heard that in Melbourne, ASIO has been calling Muslims in to meetings and threatening them not to express political opinions, including ones which it would be considered normal for any other Australian to say; for example being against war. Obviously this has the community pretty scared. To the point where people are telling their kids not to talk about politics at all.
This isn’t the first time this has happened. I first heard about this kind of thing when I was involved in activism against the war against Lebanon in 2006. Muslim activists would sometimes just disappear from campaigns without giving any reason. Sometimes we’d find out 3rd or 4th hand that people had been raided, arrested, etc and then released but instructed under anti-terror laws not to talk about it. Whole organisations would sometimes stop being involved in campaigns after being threatened.
I also know that the police have interfered to stop people attending rallies. One example was in 2010 there was a neo-nazi rally at Flinders St Station in Melbourne. A counter rally was organised by various left groups. I know from private discussions that a lot of people from the Muslim community were planning to attend the counter-rally. However the police went to all the Mosques and convinced them that they should not attend.
Anyway, because of the anti-terror laws it’s impossible for people subjected to this abuse by ASIO to speak about it publicly. But from word of mouth reports it’s obvious that this has been happening regularly for a long time and that it’s getting much worse now – what we do hear about must only be the tip of the iceberg.
This is one of the best articles I’ve read in ages. It really hits the nail on the head!
Why I Reject Forgiveness Culture
By Elizabeth Switaj
For trauma survivors, there are many paths to healing and moving forward in life. Why does forgiveness culture demand that survivors forgive their abusers?
When I say that I am against forgiveness, I am not judging individuals who choose to forgive. If doing so helps you, then by all means, forgive. What I abhor is a culture that places demands on victims and survivors, insisting that we are not whole until we forgive. Forgiveness culture implies that betrayers and abusers can expect to be forgiven — they can hurt and harm and rage — and should their targets decline to forgive, they can rest smug in the assurance that the refusal reflects a flaw in their victims, not in themselves….
